In the 'good old days' communication was often pretty casual on Palomar Mountain. The mail came up on a stage coach or horseback. Later, a bulletin board was installed at the Store and Post Office. That seemed to work fine for over 100 years. Now we have a Communications Committee bringing us into the new century.
The PMVFD Communications Center is completed, the Fire Department now has it's own Amateur Radio License for the Center, and equipment is already being donated from HAM people. We have contacts with the Red Cross, RACES/ARES and other disaster groups to begin working together, and will have joint drills. The Community Emergency Response Training - CERT program is underway.
